VUE Sarasota Bay

VUE Sarasota Bay sits at what may be the most photographed intersection in Sarasota — the point where Gulfstream Avenue curves toward the John Ringling Causeway and the bayfront opens up in every direction. Developed by Kolter Urban and completed in 2017, the 18-story tower holds 141 residences and shares its site with The Westin Sarasota, its 18-story companion tower, with a connecting walkway between the two. Nichols Architects designed both buildings, drawing on themes from the Sarasota School of Architecture — the region's homegrown modernist tradition of clean lines, deep overhangs, and walls of glass. That heritage shows in VUE's signature look: 10-foot floor-to-ceiling windows and oversized terraces angled toward the water. The location does a rare double duty. Face west and you are looking across Sarasota Bay toward the Ringling Bridge and the barrier islands; step out the front door and you are a short walk from Marina Jack, the bayfront trail, and the restaurants and galleries of downtown. For a building of its scale, VUE keeps daily life simple — concierge and valet at the door, amenities one level up, and the city within walking distance.

Residences at VUE span one- to three-bedroom layouts plus penthouses, generally ranging from roughly 1,400 to more than 3,400 square feet depending on the plan and floor. The architecture leads with glass: 10-foot floor-to-ceiling windows wrap the living areas, and oversized terraces extend the main rooms outdoors, most oriented toward the bay, the marina, or the downtown skyline. Interiors follow an open-plan logic — kitchens, dining, and living areas flow as one space along the window wall. Many residences are reached by private elevator entry, so the ride up opens into the home rather than a shared corridor. Finishes vary by residence, as original buyers selected from Kolter's finish programs and many homes have since been customized, so individual units are best evaluated in person.

VUE's amenity level centers on the pool deck: a resort-style, heated infinity-edge pool with a spa and sundeck, plus a fire pit for evenings outside. Indoors, the building offers a fitness center, a club lounge with fireplace, a formal lounge, a catering kitchen for entertaining, and a boardroom for meetings. Practical comforts run throughout — 24-hour concierge, valet parking, secured parking in the attached garage structure, and climate-controlled storage. Dog owners get something genuinely uncommon downtown: a rooftop dog park with a grooming station. And because the building shares its site with The Westin Sarasota, a connecting walkway puts the hotel's spa, dining, and services next door without crossing a street.

Days here tend to organize themselves around the water. Morning coffee on the terrace comes with sailboats moving through the mooring field; the bayfront trail below handles the day's walk or run, with Bayfront Park's banyan trees as a turnaround point. Lunch might be dockside at Marina Jack, dinner anywhere along Main Street or Palm Avenue, and a show at the Van Wezel or the Sarasota Opera House caps the evening — all without moving the car. When the beach calls, the Ringling Bridge delivers you to St. Armands Circle and Lido Key.
