Overview

The Owen sits at the southern tip of Golden Gate Point, a 22-acre peninsula that reaches into Sarasota Bay at the base of the John Ringling Causeway. The Ronto Group, the Naples-based developer active in Southwest Florida since 1967, built it in partnership with Wheelock Street Capital, with MHK Architecture & Planning handling design, Connor & Gaskins Unlimited building, Riley Interior Design shaping the interiors, and David W. Johnston Associates handling the landscape. Construction broke ground in June 2024, the building topped off in spring 2025, and delivery was slated for the second quarter of 2026. The result is deliberately small: 29 residences, including four penthouses, in a ten-story building where every home gets three bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, and its own private elevator entry. That scale is the story here. Golden Gate Point has long been Sarasota's quietest downtown address — low-key, water-wrapped, and residential — and The Owen leans into that character rather than against it. You get bay and marina views, a landscaped amenity deck with a saltwater infinity-edge pool, and two secure parking spaces per residence, all within a neighborhood where the streets are brick and the pace is set by the water.

Residences

MHK Architecture & Planning designed The Owen with clean contemporary lines and expanses of glass oriented toward the bay and the downtown skyline. All 29 residences follow three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath layouts across four open-concept floor plans, ranging from 2,263 to 3,065 square feet under air, plus terraces — several plans add a dedicated study or den. Each residence is reached through a private elevator entry, and terraces come equipped with built-in gas grills, so outdoor cooking doesn't mean leaving your floor. Interiors were guided by Riley Interior Design, the firm behind the public spaces of several condominium projects in the region. Practical details are generous for a building this size: every residence includes two parking spaces in the secure garage, one pre-wired for electric vehicle charging, along with a climate-controlled storage room. Four penthouses crown the residential floors.

Amenities

For a 29-residence building, the amenity list runs deep. Outside, the landscaped amenity deck holds a saltwater infinity-edge pool with a separate spa, fire pit seating, an outdoor bar and grilling area, a walking path, a bocce ball court, and a fenced dog park. Inside, the owners' lobby level includes a club room with a bar, a game room with social seating and an indoor/outdoor bar, a board room, and dedicated work-from-home rooms. The fitness center — roughly 1,700 square feet per listing sources — comes with a massage suite, a stretching and yoga area, and steam and sauna rooms. Guest parking is available on site, and each residence's two garage spaces are secured within the building.

Location

Golden Gate Point is a 22-acre peninsula at the base of the John Ringling Causeway, rebuilt in 2009 with brick streets, decorative lighting, and lush landscaping. It reads as a quiet residential island, yet downtown Sarasota is a short walk away — Five Points Park is roughly fourteen minutes on foot, with the city's restaurants, galleries, and theaters, including the Sarasota Opera House and Florida Studio Theatre, clustered nearby. The Owen occupies the southern tip of the point, with bay and marina views and waterfront parks along the downtown bayfront. In the other direction, the Ringling Causeway carries you over the water to St. Armands Circle's shops and restaurants and on to the beaches of Lido Key, with Siesta Key a short drive beyond.

Lifestyle

Days here are shaped by the water on three sides. Mornings might start with a loop around the point's brick streets, a swim in the infinity-edge pool, or a session in the yoga area before the steam room. The dog park handles the first errand of the day without leaving the property. From there, downtown is close enough that dinner, a gallery opening, or a performance at the opera house is a walk rather than a drive — and when the evening calls for sand instead, St. Armands Circle and Lido Beach sit just across the causeway. Back home, the terrace grill and the amenity deck's fire pit and outdoor bar make staying in feel like a plan rather than a default.
